Global Logistics moves world’s longest hair from India to the US Required special logistics solution with Customs & airline
It might not have been hair-raising, so to speak, but it certainly was something unique and one-of-its-kind for Global Logistics, that involved the long, black tresses of a teenage girl from Modasa in Gujarat!
The Ahmedabad branch of Global Logistics, one of the country’s leading logistics service providers, recently handled a special logistics job for a special cargo – moving the black locks of 17-year-old Nilanshi Patel, the Guinness World Record holder for the longest hair in the world on a teenager (200 cm), from Gujarat to Ripley’s Believe it or Not! museum in the US.
Once the hair was cut, it was tied and weighed, coming to a total of 266 g!
According to the company, Global Logistics was chosen by Ms. Patel herself, once she could understand the experience and dedication of the entire team to carry out the job.
This involved creating a special custom-made solution for the entire logistics. Since there were no previous examples in India to refer to, the process required creating special documentation, and detailed discussions with Customs, the airline, and all authorities for the movement of cargo. This called for liaising with Customs, the airline, Ripley’s museum authorities, and other government departments. Very importantly, the documentation process had to be exclusive, explaining this as a Guinness World Record holder’s hair and involving moving it as an exclusive type of cargo with the airline.
The hair is now on display at Ripley’s museum in the US. Ms. Nilanshi Patel thanked Global Logistics for facilitating this complex movement to the museum.
After becoming a three-time Guinness World Record holder for the longest hair ever on a teenager, a crown which she last retained in July 2020, Ms. Patel finally decided to cut her hair after 12 long years and give it to a museum.
