Coffee exports up


On robust purchases by countries such as Belgium, India’s coffee exports increased 16 percent during the first six months of calendar 2021 to $460.89 million over the same period as last year’s $395 million. In rupee terms, the realizations were up by 15 percent at Rs 3,375 crore during the first half, compared with Rs 2,932 crore.


As global prices improved during the period, the per-unit realization fetched by Indian exporters was higher. The average per-unit realization in the first half of the year stood at Rs 1,75,104.99 a tonne, as against Rs 1,68,651.22. Shipments are expected to further pick up by the end of August-September, say, stakeholders, as per a report.
